He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?... (Acts 19:2).
So me Christians have received the Holy Spirit but are not acquainted with His power and ministry in their lives. They don’t know the awesomeness of this wonderful third Person of the God-head, hence they live ordinary lives. May I remind you that this Holy Spirit you have received is the same Spirit that worked with David when as a young boy he came face-to-face with a lion, and a bear, and on those occasions slew both beasts with his bare hands (1 Samuel 1 7:34-3 5)! It was that same Spirit that came upon him when as a stripling he felled the great Goliath of Gath, the champion of the Philistine.
Let me also remind you that the Holy Spirit you’ve received is the same Spirit that came on Samson and caused him to overcome one thousand trained men of war with the jawbone of an ass (Judges 15:1 5). Again, it’s the same Holy Spirit that lives in you today that worked with Moses and caused him to split the Red Sea wide open (Exodus 14:16).
What about Joshua, Moses’ successor? It was the same Holy Spirit that worked in his life, causing him to command the sun and the moon to stand still for a whole day. That same Spirit worked with Elijah, Elisha, Solomon and ultimately the Lord Jesus Himself. The mighty works recorded for us in the scriptures wrought by the Holy Spirit through the prophets of old were not mere stories or fairy- tales. They are there to let you know what the Spirit of God could do in your life as well if you’d yield to him.
The prophets of old didn’t even have the fullness of the Spirit, for they weren’t born again. This should let you know how much your life ought to be even more supernatural as a result of having the Holy Spirit live in you! If you’re born again and have received the Holy Spirit, you have no business living an ordinary life. Make up your mind to live by the Spirit’s power everyday.
