I am come that they might have lift, and that they might have it more abundantly (John 10:10).
Many people think that Jesus brought us a good, nice religion but that’s absolutely untrue. He didn’t say “...l am come that they might have a good religion” or “...l am come that they might have a better religion”—He said ‘...l am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly.” The term “more abundantly” doesn’t mean having more and more life. It means “life in its fullest”; Jesus came to give us life to the full—life in its entirety; in its completeness. He didn’t come to add to the numerous religions in the world today. Religion is man’s way of approaching God, but Jesus brought us something better and greater—he brought us the higher life in Christ. That’s Christianity. It is the life of God lived out through you; it is divinity at work in your physical body! It is the unveiling of the Living Word in a human life! It is God Almighty taking up His abode in a human person—that’s what Jesus brought to us.
Religion is man’s way of reaching out to God, but Christianity is God reaching out to man. Until this becomes a personal revelation to you, all you have will be mere religion. The reason we go to church, pray, win souls and do all the things we do isn’t that we have received a religion, but because we have received God’s nature.
Jesus made it possible for us to receive into our spirits the same quality of life that only God has and if you’re born again, you’ve become a partaker of that fullness of life. This is what it means to be a Christian—having the nature of God in your spirit and the pulsating life of Christ in every fiber of your being!
