Jesus Brought Us Life, Not Religion

I am come that they might have lift, and that they might have it more abundantly (John 10:10).

Many people think that Jesus brought us a good, nice religion but that’s absolutely untrue. He didn’t say “...l am come that they might have a good religion” or “...l am come that they might have a better religion”—He said ‘...l am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly.” The term “more abundantly” doesn’t mean having more and more life. It means “life in its fullest”; Jesus came to give us life to the full—life in its entirety; in its completeness. He didn’t come to add to the numerous religions in the world today.
Religion is man’s way of approaching God, but Jesus brought us something better and greater—he brought us the higher life in Christ. That’s Christianity. It is the life of God lived out through you; it is divinity at work in your physical body! It is the unveiling of the Living Word in a human life! It is God Almighty taking up His abode in a human person—that’s what Jesus brought to us.
Religion is man’s way of reaching out to God, but Christianity is God reaching out to man. Until this becomes a personal revelation to you, all you have will be mere religion. The reason we go to church, pray, win souls and do all the things we do isn’t that we have received a religion, but because we have received God’s nature.
Jesus made it possible for us to receive into our spirits the same quality of life that only God has and if you’re born again, you’ve become a partaker of that fullness of life. This is what it means to be a Christian—having the nature of God in your spirit and the pulsating life of Christ in every fiber of your being!

Search The Scriptures

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify  of me John 5:39).

In the course of His discourse with the Jews one day, the Lord Jesus said to them: “...Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God” (Matthew 22:29). This means that the one who doesn’t know the Word of God will definitely make the wrong judgments and inevitably the wrong choices in life. That’s why He tells us in the opening scripture to “search the scriptures.”
To ‘search’ means ‘to look thoroughly in order to find something’; it also means ‘to investigate so as to seek out answers.’ This implies some effort on the part of the one searching; it’s not a mere browsing over a subject, but a deliberate effort to seek out the truth from among several other facts.
So, when the Master says to us “search the scriptures” you ought to know that it’s serious business. The Bible catalogues for us life-changing truths which you require to live to your maximum potential, but you’ve got to search them out. “It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter” (Proverbs 25:2). There’re several great revelations in God’s Word and He wants His kids to search them out, for we are kings! He loves it when we diligently study His Word and unravel the marvelous truths He has reserved for us.
This should also let you know how to study your Bible. You’ve got to have a pen, a notepad, a dictionary and a good reference Bible, for searching the scriptures entails more than mere reading. It involves looking thoroughly and intently into the word to make spiritual discoveries that’ll catapult you into higher realms of glory.
Make the quality decision to become an ardent student of the Word by searching carefully and diligently through the scriptures everyday. As you do this, the Holy Spirit will always be right there to guide you, and help you understand the Word and impart your spirit with the revelation of divine verities.

Prove God’s Word In Your Life

Forever 0 Lord, thy word is settled in heaven. Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth (Psalm 11 9.89-90).
The opening Scripture tells us that God's Word is forever settled in heaven: however, it's your responsibility to settle or prove the Word in your own life. The Bible says, “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21). Concerning your health, marriage, business, academics, ministry, etc., you can prove the Word of God. How? By simply acting on it; doing what it says.

In fact, while talking about tithing in Malachi 3:10, the Lord challenged us to prove the word: “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meal in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a bless in that there shall not be room enough to receive it” So you see, God isn't afraid to be put on the spot; He asked us to prove His Word.
So today, find out some of the things God has said about you in His Word and act on them. Don't sit idly by waiting and hoping that His word concerning you will come to pass someday, perhaps in the sweet-by-and-by. No! Take a step of faith and act on the Word now! Act on the knowledge of God's word that has come to you, and your faith will prevail.

Faith is Expressed in Words and Actions

So it is with faith: if it is alone and includes no actions,
then it is dead. But someone will say, One person has faith,
another has actions. “My answer is, “Show me how anyone can have faith
without actions. I will show you my faith by my actions
(James 2:17.18 GNB,).

Faith is active and not passive. Faith doesn’t sit back and say, “Whatever will be, will be.” Faith acts NOW, for faith without works, that is corresponding action, is dead. So, the faith that works is that which believes what God says, speaks and acts accordingly. In other words, if you truly believe God's word-that He is who He says He is, has done what He says He has done, and that you have what He says you have, then you must talk, act and live that way.

When Peter and John met the crippled man at the gate of the temple called Beautiful, Peter said to the man, Silver and gold have I none: but such as I have give I thee. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk” (Acts 3:6). Peter then grabbed the man by the hand, and lifted him up. The Bible says “And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them in to the temple, Walking and leaping, and praising God” (Acts 3:8). The man didn't try to test whether he could stand up: he jumped up! That’s a demonstration of faith. He believed he had been healed and he immediately acted that way: “And he leaping up stood, and walked....”
Thus, when you hear the Word of God which says for example, 'By whose stripes ye were healed” (1 Peter 2:24), you ought to say “Thank you Father, by the stripes of Jesus, I was healed.” and then you get off the sickbed and act like someone that's healed, by doing those things you couldn’t do before. Act on the word today. The Bible says “...what things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them (Mark 11:24). Put this to work. Each time you pray, rejoice like someone that has received. Notice I didn't say, “rejoice so you’ll receive”; rather rejoice, knowing that you've received!” That’s the faith principle. You don't negotiate the word. Once you receive it concerning any area of your life you act accordingly, for faith is action added to the word of God that you've believed.

Faith Doesn’t ask “How?”

But people whose faith makes them acceptable to God will never ask,
“Who will go up to heaven to bring Christ down?” Neither will they ask,
“Who will go down into the world of the dead to raise Him to life?
(Romans 1O:6-7 CEV)

When it comes to walking by faith, you must learn to trust in the word of God and believe in its integrity, for the word never fails. This is the reason you should never question the veracity of God’s Word or doubt its integrity. Some folks, upon receiving counsel, instruction or admonition from the word of God are fond of asking how the word they've heard will come to pass. That’s not faith, for faith doesn’t ask 'how?”! Rather, faith acts on the Word.
Don't ask how the miracle you're expecting will happen. Leave the 'how’ to God. Stop trying to figure out how your faith will work and produce the money you need. Don't ask God how the miracle baby you're expecting will come! Don’t ask Him how the healing will take place. Your responsibility is to keep living the word; be a word practitioner. The challenge you're facing may seem overwhelming, but the Bible lets us know that through faith you've already overcome.
God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all you can ever ask or think or imagine. He is too big to be asked the question “how?” Therefore when He tells you anything, just believe. That's all it takes. Jesus said “If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth” (Mark 9:23). When God asked Abraham to offer his only son Isaac as a sacrifice, he promptly obeyed. He didn't ask, “0 God, how am I going to become the father of many nations if I offer my only son as a sacrifice?” He left that to the Lord. That's faith; it doesn't ask God ‘how?’ Rather, it accepts, believes and endorses God’s Word as absolute truth.

Live For A Cause

Wherefore the rather brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall (2 Peter 1:10).
Many live their lives without ever knowing their reason for being. There's no life more frustrating than one lived without purpose. As Christians, we have a responsibility in Christ, and we must be consistently conscious of that responsibility. We’re the ones to influence those in our spheres of contact and win our world to Christ. That's our purpose and reason for being.
The Bible says “To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 5:19). This is God’s purpose for our lives. He has committed to us the ministry of reconciliation. Thus the reason we live is for the salvation of the souls of men.
Jesus knew His reason for coming. He declared in John 10:10, “...I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” He was so clear about His purpose, and He didn't just articulate it; He also lived it. When God called Moses and said to him, “...l will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out” (Exodus 3:10), Moses understood this as his reason for being. His purpose was clear to him and he went about it fervently and thus became the deliverer of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. Understand your purpose in life and stay focused on it. The Lord Jesus declared: “...My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.” Real fulfillment comes when you discover and live in God's purpose for your life.

Take the Faith Way to the Top!

So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham (Galatians 3:9).

The Bible describes Abraham as a very wealthy man (Genesis 13:2). He however didn’t become rich by hard work alone or by good luck. Hebrews 11:8 says, “By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.” ln other words, Abraham became great by faith. He took the faith way up! We are the children of Abraham, therefore we also must take the faith way up; the life we live now must be by faith (Galatians 2:20).
Faith in God and in His Word gives you tremendous results in all your endeavors. Without faith, it’s impossible to please God because anyone that comes to Him must
believe that He is the One Who supplies, heals, provides and rewards (Hebrew’s 11:6).
The Bible says through faith the elders obtained a good report (Hebrews 11:2). Meaning that the elders took the faith way up! Extraordinary miracles were done through faith, they “…subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions” (Hebrews 11:33). You also can equally get a job, pay your bills, and live in health, victory and success everyday as you live by faith in the Word.
The word declares that they which are of faith are the children of Abraham (Galatians 3:7), and, the promises of God were made to Abraham and his seed (Galatians 3:16). That includes you; so like father Abraham, take the faith way to the top!

The Power Of Your Thoughts

For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he... (Proverbs 23:7).
Thoughts are pictures of the mind that have constructive or destructive potential. Thoughts also have power and create realities. The quickest way to affect your thoughts is through mental pictures. You’ve got to see first in your mind the things you desire for your life.
In Genesis 15:1, God told Abraham, “...Fear not...! am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.” But instead of Abraham to be excited at God’s word, he complained bitterly: “Sovereign LORD, what good are all your blessings when I don’t even have a son? Since I don’t have a con, Eliezer of Damascus, a servant in my household, will inherit all my wealth” (Genesis 1 5:2-3 TNLB)
God, however, knew what to do to make Abraham believe; He gave him a mental picture. He “...brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and He said unto him, So shall thy seed be. And he believed in the Lord; and He counted it to him for righteousness” (Genesis 1 5:5-6). That picture of having offspring as innumerable as the stars in the sky helped Abraham believe God’s word and think the right thoughts. He went on to receive God’s promise and Isaac was born.
Make a practice of forming the right images in your mind based on God's word. when you do, those thoughts will create realities.

Good Character: A Rewarding Asset

Good character is the best insurance;
crooks get trapped in their sinful lust (Proverbs 11:6 MSG).
Imagine you got home one day and found one million dollars left at the corner of your house, and just the day before you had asked the Lord for money. But now, here you are, with a bag of one million dollars, probably abandoned by someone you don't know. What would you do? I can imagine what terrible difficulty some people may have, deciding what to do. “Do I take it and keep it, or do I alert the police? Do I hide it somewhere else?” These and some other thoughts may run through your mind.
Some won't have any problem deciding what to do with it; they'd simply keep it. They may justify their action by saying 'If God didn't want me to have it, why then did He put it there?” Now, they're holding God responsible.
It reminds me of my growing years. Back than, if you found something that didn't belong to you, you took it to a repository called “Lost-and-found.” where it would be kept until the owner reclaimed it. It never crossed your mind to keep whatever you found that didn't belong to you. It was part of your character. There were no questions as to whether or not to keep it; you knew exactly what to do! You either returned it or found some authority figure to give it to, who would do something about it.
So today, if you found a million dollars beside your house, the right thing to do is to get witnesses and take the money to the police. That's good character. Now, having done that, don't expect anyone to reward you, for nobody needs to reward you for character. Its life itself that rewards good character, and when it does, it does it in a big way. So train yourself with good character, for it is a rewarding asset indeed.

The Holy Spirit: Your Greatest Asset!

But the Comforter; which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance,
whatsoever I have said unto you
(John 14:2O).
Jesus called the Holy Spirit the Spirit of truth, which means the Spirit of reality: the One who unveils the realities of life to you (John 16:13). He's sent of God to teach you all things and remind you of the Word of God when you need it most (John 14:26). He's your comforter, helper, strengthener and guide. He shows you the future.
There's no Christianity without the Holy Spirit. Many haven't taken advantage of His presence in their lives, so they walk in confusion; beaten down by the challenges of life. Psalm 82:5 says, They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.” Wars, economic recession, natural disasters, terrorism, and disease outbreaks are taking their toll upon the earth. Therefore, you need the Holy Spirit to help you navigate your way through life victoriously.
Submit to the ministry of the Holy Spirit and develop an intimacy with Him through fellowship. Apportion regular times in the day to spend with Him, and He’ll reveal mysteries to you concerning your life, future, family, job, finances and everything else related to you. He'll fly you on eagle's wings and teach you how to excel and win on a daily basis.

Faith – The Response of the Human Spirit to the Word of God

Now faith is the substance of things Hoped for; the evidence of
things not seen (Hebrews 11:1).
Have you noticed sometimes as you sit listening to God's word, the whole world suddenly seems small? All the challenges you may have been facing suddenly seem like nothing, at that time! The reason is simple. At such a time, the word of God is getting into your spirit and provoking a response from your inner man. That response is faith. This is why the Bible says “...Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). Every time you hear God's word, faith comes to you in the Word. Your spirit becomes energized. Faith is not in the realm of the physical senses; it’s an attribute of the human spirit—it was imparted to your spirit when you were born again (Romans 1 2.3). Thus every time you hear the Word of God, it goes through your mind into your spirit, for it is designed for your spirit.
Now, when you receive the word into your spirit, that word is more real in your spirit than the physical things that your senses perceive because the Word of God is also spiritual. So, if the Bible says that faith is the evidence of the things we don't see or perceive with our senses, then faith is the evidence of what the Word says! Faith accepts and exults what the Word says above the natural circumstances of life. Therefore, faith is that response that your spirit has towards the Word of God.
This is why it's vital for you to regularly study and meditate on the Word. There's a spiritual reaction that is ignited between your spirit and the Word of God that gives you dominion over the circumstances of life! When that reaction takes place, faith rises in you like a giant and you have the assurance that you're who God says you are, you have what He says you have, and can do what He says you can do! The challenges of this world will face away as you find yourself relating with the realities of the Kingdom.

Wisdom is a Compelling Force

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom,
and with all thy getting, get understanding (Proverbs 4:7,).

True wisdom is of the Spirit. It’s more than the mere application of knowledge as many often define it. There are those who can theorize and astound you with the vastness of their knowledge, yet that doesn't mean they're wise. Wisdom is a compelling force. It makes you do the things you should do, and say the things you should say excellently and at the right time. It causes you to function beyond your human reasoning. When a man lacks the wisdom of God, he'll think the wrong thoughts, say the wrong words, do the wrong things, and make the wrong choices. But when divine wisdom works in you, you make accurate choices and judgments without having to reason them out first.
No wonder the Apostle Paul said, “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure” (Philippians 2:13). Wisdom is that controlling power that works in us, not just to will, but also to do the will of God. It’s the compelling force that causes you to walk with divine insight in God's perfect will for your life.
Thanks be unto God, who has made divine wisdom available to you in Christ: “But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom...” (1 Corinthians 1:30). Thus, that compelling force to think, act, and function at a high level of excellence has been made available to you in Christ. Recognize and take advantage of it today.

Faith is NOT the Denial of Facts!

And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred
years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb: He
staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief but was strong in faith, giving glory to God (Romans 4:19-20,).

Some people believe that to have faith is to deny the negative situation they are experiencing. To them, faith means if they felt symptoms of fever for example, they should say, ‘I don't have fever.” That's not faith. Faith is not the denial of the facts: but it is denying those facts the ability or authority to control the circumstances of your existence. Faith means even though you “feel” the fever, you refuse to allow it knock you down; you say, “I was healed two thousand years ago and I'm still healed now. Fever, get out of my body in the Name of Jesus!”
Can you see the deference? One guy is denying the facts, but the other is overriding the facts with the word of God! When David confronted Goliath, he didn't deny that he was facing a giant. He didn't say, “There’s no giant threatening Israel”; if he had done that, Goliath would have whipped him! He saw the giant, but whereas everyone else focused on the size of the giant, David only gave consideration to the truth that he was in covenant with Jehovah (1 Samuel 1 7:45). He prevailed over the giant because he overrode that fact with the greater truth of God's Word. I remember a beautiful testimony from one of our pastors. She had gone for a certain job interview and when she got there, she was told the interview was over and the candidates needed for the job had already been shortlisted. Actually, she hadn’t even been invited for the interview! But before she went there, she had been praying and had received a rhema-word to go there. Stunned at her boldness, the panelists invited her in for an interview and she got the job! That’s faith! She didn't get there saying “I confess that the interview isn't over in the Name of Jesus!” she overrode the fact with the rhema-word she had received. So, quit thinking faith is all about denying facts or pretending to have what you actually don't have. Faith is calling real what God has said about you, and therefore acting that way.
